PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE – SHERI LACKEY, 2019
Welcome everyone to the 159th edition of the Wallacetown Fair as we celebrate our agricultural roots with “Barn Doors and Dirt Floors”. Wander through the barn doors of the Sheep Barn on Friday night and party on the dirt floor with Connor Wilson and his band. Cheer on your favourite contestant as they vie for Fair Ambassador in the Entertainment Barn.
You can find all sorts of delights behind the doors of our exhibition barns that are open all weekend. From baking and handcrafts, photography and art, flowers, wine and displays in the Homecraft building to the crops, vegetables and student arts and crafts in the Junior Fair barn, the vendors and the entertainment, there is always something that will catch your attention. Saturday’s beef cattle show, and Sunday’s sheep show showcase many different breeds of these animals.
Make some new four-legged friends at the Ken Jen Petting Zoo and be sure to greet Fletcher the Ostrich.
Find a seat in the grandstand on Saturday afternoon for the car-crushing Monster Truck show and in the evening watch our local drivers race through our Mud Bog. Sunday afternoon is another popular event as more drivers attempt to be last one in the ring of our Demo Derby.
Returning this year is our midway with Campbell Amusements with their rides for all ages.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. This 159-year-old ‘child’ takes more than just a village. Thank you to the entire community and area around for your support, your sponsorships and donations, your ideas and creativity for new and exciting things to help fill our displays, and your volunteering. This Fair would not exist and thrive without these things and the numerous other ways you show your support throughout the year.
A huge thank you to the Board of Directors and Associate Directors. Your countless hours (and sometimes days and months), your creativity and dedication to bringing this fair into being does not go unnoticed. You are an amazing group of people!
Here’s to good friends, good times and good weather! See you at the Fair!!
HOMECRAFT PRESIDENT – LIN MCCANN, 2019
Once again, we are presenting our Annual Fall Fair for everyone to see what’s new and exciting. Our theme Barn Doors and Dirt Floors was fun to incorporate in our prize list. We invite you to participate in any or all of our classes showing your talents and we are proud to display your entries.
On Saturday we have demonstrations in the Homecraft and Entertainment Buildings for you to enjoy. Our exhibits and displays of Flowers, Needlecraft, Culinary, Art, Photography, Wine, Card Table and Group Displays are fantastic every year and we look forward to an amazing display again.
Thank you to all our Homecraft committees and volunteers. Your commitment to attending meetings, helping set up and tear down fair weekend, your assistance the day before the fair, and your willingness to always be ready to help is SO appreciated.
Enjoy the weekend, bring your family, meet your friends, make new friends, eat lots of different fair goodies and take-home memories to treasure.
See you at the Fair.
